The Challenge

Ciena expanded from one to three campuses and needed unified AV across 70+ rooms. Three buildings encompassed the project, including a total of 9 large boardrooms, 20 medium meeting spaces, and 43 small workspaces, not to mention countless other huddle and break rooms. Small rooms seat six participants at a table, either in the centre of the room (meeting style) or up against the wall (huddle style).

The Solution

Video sources typically connect directly via HDMI cables to a 65” display in the room. Controls for these small rooms is via a display remote. Medium rooms seat up to ten participants at a rectangular table with two table access for connections. Video sources connect via shielded cabling and are projected using a projector 110” fixed screen. Large rooms accommodate up to 16 people seated at a square table. There are three access Extron HSA402 enclosures and available connections include HDMI, RJ45 and various adaptor dongles. Video output uses a projector on a 110” fixed screen. These large rooms are controlled using a handheld remote for the projector.

The Results

Ciena’s AV now supports seamless collaboration and heavy daily use.
